Karwanna Dyson, Owner, Big Mouth Productions

Karwanna2Karwanna Dyson, owner of the Small Business Enterprise (SBE) Big Mouth Productions, has a vital role on the Transbay Transit Center Project as a photographer for steel assembly subcontractor Skanska. A typical day on-site for Karwanna includes capturing time-lapse videos and catching Skanska workers bolting, welding or decking on the four-block long project with her camera.

SBEs like Big Mouth Productions are an important part of the Transbay Project, as certified SBEs and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) account for more than 17 percent of construction work. In fact, more than 140 SBEs and DBEs have been contracted to work on the Project since 2010 as a result of the TJPA’s outreach efforts.

Karwanna started Big Mouth Productions in 2008 and largely works on video production, photographs and websites for local non-profits, small businesses and city agencies. As a small business owner, Karwanna never imagined working on such a large construction project. Her favorite part about being involved in construction of the Transbay Transit Center is capturing history in the making. One day she hopes her photographs can provide insight into how the project was built and maybe even land in a few history books.
