In order to make way for the new Transit Center at First and Mission streets in downtown San Francisco, the Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) demolished the former Transbay Terminal facility and bus ramp, and relocated utilities in the project area. Demolition and utility relocation activities are now complete, as is the Transit Center’s foundation and underground rail levels.  Structural steel assembly began in Fall 2014 and was completed in January 2016. Placement of the exterior awning began in April 2016 and completed in early 2017. The bus ramp connecting the Transit Center to the Bay Bridge was completed in 2017.  The newTransit Center opened to the public on August 11, 2018.

The former Transbay Terminal closed on August 6, 2010. Bus operations relocated to the Transbay Temporary Terminal from August 2010 through August 2018 while the new Transit Center was being constructed.  The new Transit Center opened to the public on August 11, 2018.  More information about the Salesforce Transit Center can be found here https://salesforcetransitcenter.com/
