Design Contract for New Transit Center Approved

On May 15, 2008, the TJPA Board of Directors unanimously approved a professional services agreement with Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects (PCPA) to design the new landmark Transbay Transit Center in downtown San Francisco.  The Board vote follows their September decision to enter into exclusive negotiations with PCPA and developer Hines, the winners of the TJPA’s eight month long international Design and Development Competition, which sought the lead architect for the Transit Center and developer for the Tower.  PCPA’s “City Park” design was unanimously chosen by the Board and, prior to that, by the Design and Development Jury, an expert panel of design, planning, engineering, transit and real estate development professionals.
